My name is Trudy Ferguson, my husband Vernell Sr and our son Vernell Jr and I are from Jefferson City Missouri. I retired from my job with the state on March 1st 2015. After a much needed rest and enjoying doing nothing I started contemplating on what I was going to do with myself. I don’t have grandchildren yet. I don’t have enough money to travel the world, nor the United States. I have always wanted to know what it would feel like to own my own business. So, after throwing around potential business names, The Homemade Cottage was established July 2015. I went and filed for my business license, then I came up with a slogan and a purpose. Here is my purpose: “Providing my customers with home grown veggies (when in season), homemade jellies and jams, specialty breads and baguettes, all kinds of baked goodies, candies, chocolates, marshmallows, and even homemade crafts”. This is my slogan: “Everything made for freshness”. I sell at farmer’s markets in Jefferson City and in Columbia Missouri, at fairs and festivals around Central Missouri. My goal this year is to attend a better processor school to become a certified processor of low acid foods to sell my pickles, spaghetti sauces and salsas. I take orders/special requests via emails: thehomemadecottage@outlook.com or text 573-619-6746. Come visit me at the farmer’s markets in Jefferson City and in Columbia MO.
